Ms. McFelia expressed her thanks and appreciation to the Lions Club for providing free eye screenings to the fair-goers at the Kentucky State Fair each year. From attending one of these screenings, she learned that she needed to see an optometrist. This led to her being diagnosed with a serious eye condition that needed medical treatment. Note: The Kentucky Lions will be providing free eye screenings at the Kentucky State Fair -Thursday, August 19th thru Sunday, August 29th. Contestants each ate a pint of ice cream in a matter of seconds without using their hands. Stephanie Rock and Meagan Pearman of Bank of Magnolia assisted with the contest. WINNERS of the Hart County Fair ice cream-eating contest in the 13 and up division were, beginning second from left, tying for third, Julia Scott, Greg Carter, Kate Kenny winning second place and McKenna Vierstra winning first. Assisting with the contest were Bank of Magnolia employees Stephanie Rock and Meagan Pearman. Bank of Magnolia and Attorney Charlie Williams were sponsors of the event. Community Education has two acrylic painting classes available for your enjoyment one on Tues- days and another on Thurs- days. If you are twelve years or older, you can join us and learn basic to advanced techniques and methods of using acryl- ics. Group and individual instructions will be given. The Tuesday class meets from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. on August 10, 17,24, 31, Sep- tember 7, 14 at Glasgow Baptist Church. Thursday's class will meet August 12, 19, 26, September 2, 9, 16 from 9:00 - 11:00 aan. at First Christian Church. Local artist, John Wing is the instructor. The cost is $38 plus a $2 lab fee.
